This is an overal image of the Housing design which holds 108 people and consists of 6 modules
The housing Design is designed to hold the workers needed to run, and operate the banana
plantation in Haiti. The materials reflect a clean, and common construction material in Haiti. With a white washed concrete found around Haiti. In the wake of the earth quake there is an obvious need for a means of reinforcement. So in searching for this we found the ability of the plantations secondary bamboo crop to do just that. By splitting the bamboo into 3/4 in strips and tying them just like steel reinforcement you are able to increase the ability for the buildings to increase strength similar to steel. The roof is a traditional thatched roof that in after the initial construction can be replaced when needed with the banana leaves from the banana plants.
The housing module are built of repeating a housing module 6 times up a terraced foundation. The modules consist of 2 units that include 2 floors, and an outdoor patio. The housing in total will be able to house the 100+ workers that will be needed in order to run the agricultural portions of the plantation.
