Garden Perspective
The site is laid out in a courtyard manner. The axial design is based on a level of importance and separation based on the usage off the structures. The project will be separated into 3 stages; a initial, a 5 year, and a 10 year build out. The first two housing units, Processing plant, school, and cafeteria, and the terraced garden will be in the initial construction. two more housing units, the chapel and the textile mill will be part of the 5 year build out. Followed by the last two housing units, the soccer field, and the building materials lab in the 10 year build out.
Site perspective
In the center of the complex in the Cafeteria. Here it is able to become the life of the complex. A place where the community comes together and gathers. Everyone is able to start the day together, allowing for a focus of what needs to be done to be expressed to the community as a whole.
Moving up the Hill the housing is terraced as the two groups of three units step up the landscape, separated by a foliage shaded recreational courtyard. The courtyard is axial aligned with the cafeteria, leading residents directly into the cafeteria and center of the complex.
Alley Perpective
Up the hill to the east of the housing is a terraced garden. Here the majority of the food to feed the plantation is grown, and harvested. The terraces allow for wider irrigation, and a flatter plane of growth, allowing a wider variety of crops to be grown.
At the very top of the hill there are three helix wind turbines. These turbines will help to power the plantation, as well as do the traditional wind mill process of pumping fluids up hill. In this case water for irrigation will be pumped up from the west, and the sewage from the plantation will be pumped up the hill into a septic tank, where it can be sent by gravity for treatment.
On the west end of the site there is a chapel, and a recreational field. The chapel will be used for general religious practices. Here the 95% Roman Catholic, 5% Baptist, and 50% Voodoo populations can worship independently or in groups. The field can be used by groups, as a space to get away. To play soccer, or other recreational activities.
Numbered Site
The south end of the Site is the school. Here classes on agriculture and research of agricultural products may be preformed. The school will be a general education, with a focus on the agricultural processes, and production of products.
Staged Site
The east side of the site is the three warehouse structures. The top is for basic processing, and has underground storage. The left structure is the textile facility where the fiber will become cloth and clothing, as well as weaving bamboo for corrugated bamboo roofing. The right side is a materials lab, where the building materials will finish production, and shipping.
